Sort, clean and reshape lines of text

Free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded. Paste a list or a block of text and sort it, remove duplicates and line breaks, number or repeat lines, pull out emails and links, find and replace, or compare two lists, with the result live as you type.

Twelve operations

Sort, dedupe, join, split, repeat, number, trim, extract, replace and compare, each with the options you would reach for.

Live and line-ending aware

The result updates as you type and reads Windows, Mac and Linux line endings (opened files keep theirs). Emoji and accents stay whole.

Undo and chain steps

Use the result as the next input, undo up to 20 steps, copy, download or share a link with your options.

Private by design

Nothing is uploaded. Big inputs and regular expressions run in a background worker you can cancel.

Frequently asked questions

What can the Text Tools do?
Twelve operations on plain text: sort lines, remove duplicate lines, remove line breaks, add line breaks or split by a delimiter, repeat text, number lines or add a prefix and suffix, trim and collapse whitespace, remove empty lines, reverse text, lines or words, extract emails, links or numbers, find and replace (plain or regular expressions) and compare two lists. Pick one from the list and the result updates as you type.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser, in this tab. Your text is not sent to a server, not logged and not saved; only your option choices are remembered on this device. When you switch operation, your text is held in this tab's session storage for up to a minute so it can carry over, then discarded. It is free with no sign-up and no watermark.
Does it keep my line endings?
Yes. Windows (CRLF), Mac (CR) and Linux (LF) breaks are all understood. A file you open with “Open file” keeps its style in the result, so a CRLF file stays CRLF; browsers turn the breaks of text you type or paste into LF, so that text gets LF results. If a file mixes styles, the commonest one is used and the tool says so.
How big a text can I use?
Texts up to 200,000 characters are handled right on the page. Larger ones, and every regular-expression replace, run in a background worker so typing stays smooth, with a Cancel button. You can open files up to 50 MB; very large results show their first million characters, and Copy and Download still include everything.
Are emoji and accented letters handled correctly?
Yes. Reversing and cutting by characters work on what you see (a flag or a family emoji is one character), duplicates compare accented letters in their canonical form, and sorting by code point puts emoji where Unicode puts them. “Use the language's alphabet order” sorts by your browser's language rules.
Can I undo and go on with the result?
Yes. “Use result as input” puts the result in the input box so you can run the next operation on it, for example sort, then remove duplicates. Undo steps back through these changes (the last 20) and through Clear and Open file.
How does the share link work?
“Share link” copies an address with the chosen operation and its options, and, if the text is under 4,000 characters and you leave the box ticked, your text too. All of it is in the part of the address after the #, which browsers never send to a server. A link opened by someone else does not change their saved options until they edit.
Are there separate pages for each operation?
Yes, each has its own page, such as Sort Lines, Remove Duplicate Lines and Extract Emails, with the same tool and its own answers. They all share one set of remembered options.
