What stays on your device

Files you open, images you edit, PDFs you merge, text you format and numbers you calculate are processed by your browser and are not uploaded to us. We can't see them.

To be convenient, many tools save your work in your browser's own storage (localStorage and IndexedDB) so it's still there when you come back. That can include drafts of what you typed, saved resumes and invoices, health-related inputs such as height, weight and age in the BMI, calorie and protein calculators, saved signatures, recently used tools, game scores and your theme choice. This data lives only on your device, we never receive it, and we don't set cookies of our own. You can erase it any time by clearing your browser's site data for omnibus.

What we do receive

• Anonymous visit statistics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It records the page visited, referrer, browser, operating system, device type and country. It uses no cookies and doesn't follow you across other websites. Visitors are told apart only by a short-lived, one-way hash that isn't tied to your identity.
• Standard server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) handles every request to the site and, like any web host, processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
• Feedback you send. The feedback form asks for a message and, optionally, a name and email. We also attach the address of the page you were on. It is delivered to us through Web3Forms, a third-party form service, which sees your IP address in the process. If that service isn't available, the form may open your own email app with the message filled in instead, and nothing is sent until you press send there. We use feedback only to improve the tools and to reply if you gave an email.

Sharing diagrams

The Share button in Mermaid Studio copies a link with your whole diagram packed into the part of the address after the #. Your browser never sends that part to any server, so we store nothing, and we can't see what's in a link you share. Anyone you give the link to can read the diagram inside it, so leave out anything confidential.

Tools that contact other services

A few tools need a third party to do their job. When you use them, your browser connects to these services directly, and they can see your IP address and follow their own privacy policies:

• IP Checker asks ipwho.is and ipify for your public IP and its location and network details, as soon as you open the page. If you look up another address, that address is sent to ipwho.is.
• Food Scanner and Cosmetic Scanner send the barcode number to Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts, and show the product photo straight from their servers. The camera image itself stays on your device.
• Image Editor's "load from URL" fetches whatever web address you type, so that site sees your IP address.
• Background Remover downloads its code from the jsDelivr CDN and its AI model from the Hugging Face hub the first time you use it. Your image is processed on your device and never uploaded.
• Chess and Sea Battle connect you to an opponent directly (peer to peer). Google's public STUN servers help the two browsers find each other and can see your IP address, and, as with any peer-to-peer connection, your opponent's browser learns yours. Moves, chat, and optional voice or video travel between the two of you and not through us.

Tools that use your camera or microphone (scanners, mic test, voice tools) process the signal on your device, apart from the optional Chess and Sea Battle calls described above, which go straight to your opponent. The browser asks your permission first, and you can revoke it any time in your browser settings.

Advertising

We don't show ads or use advertising trackers today. If that changes, we'll update this page first and ask for consent where the law requires it.

Where data is processed

Our host, our analytics provider and the other services named on this page operate internationally, including in the United States, so the limited information they handle may be processed outside the country you're in.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA) you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Since we hold very little, the practical case is feedback you sent us. Tell us what you'd like removed and we'll do it. We can't identify or delete anything kept only in your own browser, but you can do that yourself in your browser settings.

We use the information above to run and improve the site, keep it secure, and answer you. We keep feedback only as long as it's useful.

Children

omnibus is a general-purpose site and isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and its "last updated" date before the change takes effect.
