How do I add a percentage to a number?

Multiply the number by the percentage, divide by 100, and add that to the number. 200 + 15% = 200 + 200 × 15 ÷ 100 = 230.

How do I subtract a percentage?

Do the same and subtract. 200 − 15% = 200 − 30 = 170.

Is adding 15% the same as multiplying by 1.15?

Yes. Adding p% multiplies by 1 + p ÷ 100; subtracting multiplies by 1 − p ÷ 100.

How do I undo a percentage I added?

Dividing by 1.15 gets back the original, not subtracting 15%. The Reverse percentage mode does this.
