Sit better and rest your eyes while you work

Free, no sign-up, no download. Leave Posture Guard running in a tab: using your webcam, it reminds you when you slouch or lean in towards the screen, keeps an eye on how often you blink, and prompts you to take 20-20-20 eye breaks. Everything runs inside your browser, so your video stays on your device.

Slouch and lean-in alerts

Calibrate once, then get a gentle nudge when you sink down, lean towards the screen, or tilt your head.

Blink tracking

See your blinks per minute, with a reminder if you've been forgetting to blink.

20-20-20 eye breaks

Timed breaks to look into the distance — and stepping away from your desk counts as one.

Works in the background

Chimes, desktop notifications and the tab title reach you while you work elsewhere.

Pop-out window

In Chrome and Edge, keep a small always-on-top status window in the corner.

Private by design

Runs on your device. The video is never recorded or uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How does Posture Guard know I'm slouching?
When you calibrate, it notes where your eyes sit in the camera picture and how far apart they look. Later, if your eyes have dropped noticeably lower, you're sinking into your chair; if they look noticeably further apart, you've leaned in towards the screen; and if the line between them tips, your head is tilted. A bad posture has to last about eight seconds before you're reminded, so shifting in your seat or glancing at the keyboard doesn't set it off, and a continuing slouch only reminds you again once a minute. Choose Relaxed, Normal or Strict to change how far you can drift.
What is the 20-20-20 rule?
Every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet (6 metres) away for 20 seconds. It's widely recommended by eye-care organisations to ease the strain of focusing on a screen up close for long periods. Posture Guard counts down to each break and then times the 20 seconds for you. If you step away from your desk for at least 20 seconds, that counts as a break and the clock starts again. You can change the interval, take a break early, or push it back five minutes.
Why does it count my blinks?
People typically blink around 15–20 times a minute when relaxed, and studies have found that rate can fall by half or more while concentrating on a screen — one reason eyes feel dry and tired after a long session. Posture Guard shows your blinks per minute, and if it stays under 8 a minute for a couple of minutes, gives you a gentle nudge to blink. Turn blink reminders off in Settings if you'd rather not have them.
Does it keep working while I use other tabs or apps?
Yes — it keeps checking on a background timer while this tab is in the background, and can send a desktop notification (turn them on in Settings) as well as a quiet chime. Some browsers pause the camera for tabs you can't see; if that happens it tells you. In Chrome and Edge, Pop out opens a small always-on-top window with your status, which keeps the camera running; otherwise keep this window somewhere visible, such as beside your work.
Is my camera video recorded or uploaded?
No. Face tracking (Google's open-source MediaPipe Face Landmarker) runs entirely in your browser, and its code and model are served from this site rather than a third party. The video never leaves your device and is never saved. Only your settings and your calibration — a few numbers, not an image — are remembered, in this browser.
Is this medical advice?
No. Posture Guard is a simple reminder tool, not a medical device, and it can't diagnose anything. If you have ongoing pain, headaches or eye problems, see a doctor, physiotherapist or optometrist.
Tips for accurate results
Put the camera at the top of your screen, facing you, in reasonable light. Calibrate while sitting the way you want to sit, at your usual distance. If you move your laptop or change chairs, press Recalibrate.
