Frequently asked questions

How do I use the spinning wheel?
Type your options into the box on the left — one per line — and they instantly appear as coloured slices on the wheel. Press Spin, and the wheel spins to a random winner with a little confetti. You can spin again, or remove the winner to run an elimination-style draw.
Can I make some options more likely than others?
Yes. Add “*” and a number after an option to weight it — for example, “Pizza *3” makes Pizza three times as likely to win as an unweighted option, and its slice on the wheel gets three times as wide. You can also write it as “Pizza:3”.
Is the wheel actually random?
Yes. Each spin picks a winner using your browser's random number generator, weighted by each slice's size, and then the wheel animates to land on it. The result is decided fairly on every spin — the animation just shows you where it landed.
Are my entries saved?
Your list is saved in your browser's local storage so it's still there when you come back, but it never leaves your device — nothing is uploaded to a server. Clear the box any time to start fresh.
What can I use it for?
Picking who goes first, choosing where to eat, drawing a raffle winner, calling on students at random, deciding a chore — anything where you'd otherwise flip a coin or draw straws, but with more than two options.
