Frequently asked questions

How do I make a sound effect?
Tap a category — Coin, Laser, Explosion, Power-up, Hit, Jump, Blip, UI click, Whoosh, Alarm or Random. Each tap makes a new variation and plays it. Tap Mutate for a close variation of the current sound, or open the Fine-tune panels to shape it by hand.
Can I use the sounds in my game or video?
Yes. The sounds are generated from your settings, not taken from a library, so what you make is yours to use in games, apps, videos and streams — commercial or not, with no attribution needed.
What format is the download?
A standard 16-bit, 44.1 kHz mono WAV file, which every game engine (Unity, Godot, Unreal, GameMaker, Phaser…) and video editor can import. Convert it to MP3 or OGG with any audio tool if you need a smaller file.
What do the sliders do?
Envelope sets how the sound fades in, holds and fades out, and Punch adds a snap at the start. Pitch sets the starting note and how it slides, wobbles (vibrato), jumps or repeats. Tone picks the pulse width of a square wave and can bit-crush it. Filter cuts highs or lows and can sweep over time. Effects adds a phaser and sets the volume.
How do I save or share a sound?
Download it as WAV, or tap Copy link: the link holds every setting, so opening it recreates the exact same sound on any device. Nothing is stored on a server — the whole sound lives in the link.
Is it like sfxr, bfxr or jsfxr?
It works in the same spirit — one oscillator shaped by an envelope, pitch slides and filters, the classic recipe behind retro game sounds — with a few extras such as UI clicks, whooshes and alarms, plus readable units on every slider.
Is it free and private?
Yes. Every sound is synthesized in your browser — nothing is uploaded, there's no sign-up and no watermark.
