Build a bridge, then send the traffic over it

Free, no sign-up, no download. Lay roads and brace them with wood and steel triangles, hang them from ropes and cables, and keep under budget. Press Test and the cars, vans, trucks, buses and cart trains drive across while every piece glows green, yellow or red with the load. Too weak and it snaps, in slow motion. It all runs in your browser.

Real physics

Every joint has weight, every piece stretches and snaps at its limit, and ropes only pull.

See the stress

Pieces turn from green to red as they work harder, so you can see where to brace.

Five materials

Road, wood, steel, rope and cable, each with its own price, reach and strength.

28 levels

From a single plank to suspension bridges, islands, boat lanes and freight trains.

Today's challenge

The same level for everyone each day: who can get everything across for the least?

Share your bridge

Send a link with your bridge in it. Your friend opens it and presses Test.

Record the test

Save a clip of the crossing, or the collapse. No watermark.

Private and client-side

No account, no upload. Your bridges and stars stay in this browser.

Frequently asked questions

How do I build a bridge?
Pick a material and drag from a red anchor or a joint you have already placed; a piece appears and snaps to the grid, up to that material's reach. Tap a joint and then tap where the piece should end if you prefer tapping. Vehicles only drive on road, so the road must run from bank to bank, and the rest of the bridge holds it up. Press Test to send the vehicles over; Stop puts your bridge back exactly as you built it.
Why does my bridge break?
Every joint is a pin, so a long run of road on its own sags and pulls itself apart. Triangles are what make a bridge stiff: brace the road with wood or steel above or below it. During a test each piece turns green, yellow and then red as it nears its limit, and a piece past its limit snaps. Wood and steel break when they are pulled or pushed too hard; ropes and cables only take a pull and go slack if pushed.
What do the materials do?
Road is what vehicles drive on, up to 2 m a piece. Wood is cheap and light, up to 2 m. Steel reaches 4 m and is about three times as strong, at a higher price. Rope is cheap and reaches 8 m but only pulls and isn't very strong; cable reaches 12 m and is much stronger. Heavier vehicles need a stronger bridge.
How are stars given?
Getting every vehicle to the flag under budget gives one star. Two stars for coming in at or under the halfway point between the three-star target and the budget, and three stars at or under the target. Each level shows its targets, and every level has been crossed at or under its three-star target, so three stars are always possible.
What is today's challenge?
One level, the same for everyone on the same date (your local midnight starts a new one). Build the cheapest bridge that gets everything across; your best cost for the day is kept. Your bridge for the challenge is kept separately from the level's own bridge.
How do I share a bridge?
Press Share bridge. The link carries the whole bridge in the part after #, which browsers never send to a server, so nothing is uploaded. Whoever opens it sees your bridge and can press Test; their own bridge for that level stays saved until they change yours.
Can I play with the keyboard?
Yes. Arrow keys move a cursor, Enter starts a piece at the joint under the cursor and places it where the cursor ends, Escape cancels and Delete removes the nearest piece. 1 to 5 pick a material, E erases, Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y undo and redo, T tests or stops, + and − zoom and F fits the level on screen. Results are announced to screen readers.
Is anything uploaded or saved?
Nothing is uploaded. The physics runs in your browser. Your stars, the bridge you're building on each level, today's best and your settings are saved in this browser only, and clips are made on your device and stay there until you save or share them.
