Frequently asked questions

How do I play Rock Paper Scissors on camera?
Turn on your camera and press Start. Pump your fist on "Rock… Paper… Scissors…" and throw your shape on "Shoot!": a fist for rock ✊, an open hand for paper ✋, or two fingers for scissors ✌️. The game reads your hand, shows both throws, and scores the round. First to 3 wins the match.
How does it tell rock, paper and scissors apart?
A hand-tracking model in your browser finds every knuckle and fingertip, and the game checks which fingers are stretched out: none is rock, all four is paper, index and middle only is scissors. Hold your palm towards the camera for the clearest read. A label at the bottom shows what it currently sees, so you can check before you play.
Does the computer cheat?
No. The computer picks its throw at random at the moment of "Shoot!", without looking at yours.
How do two players play?
Stand side by side facing the camera and choose 2 players. The left half of the screen is Player 1 and the right half is Player 2 — a dashed line marks the middle, and each hand is coloured by the side it's on. Play each other: both of you throw on "Shoot!" and the game judges the round.
Is my camera video uploaded or recorded?
No. The hand tracking (Google's open-source MediaPipe Hand Landmarker) runs entirely on your device, and its code and model are served from this site, not a third party. The video never leaves your browser and is never saved. The camera turns off when you press Camera off or leave the page.
It isn't seeing my hands. What can I do?
Make sure your hands are well lit and fully in the picture — stepping back to an arm's length or two usually helps, and so does a plain background. The line under the game tells you how many hands it can see. Tracking is fastest on a laptop or desktop; older phones may be slower.
Can I play without a camera?
No — this game reads the shape of your hand, so it needs a webcam. Bubble Pop and Fruit Slice can also be played with a mouse or touchscreen.
Is it free, and are my scores saved?
It's free with no sign-up. Solo best scores are kept only in your own browser; there's no account or leaderboard.
