Frequently asked questions

How do I play Fruit Slice?
Turn on your camera and hold up a hand. Fruit is tossed up from the bottom of the screen; swipe your pointing finger quickly through a piece to slice it in half. Slow movements don't cut, so you can move around freely. Slicing several pieces in one swipe is a combo — each extra piece is worth one more point than the last. Bombs cost 10 points. You have one minute.
Why doesn't a slow swipe cut?
A cut needs a quick flick, like a real blade. That way a hand resting over the fruit, or moving into position, doesn't slice things by accident — and it keeps the game about fast, deliberate swipes.
How do two players play?
Stand side by side facing the camera and choose 2 players. The left half of the screen is Player 1 and the right half is Player 2 — a dashed line marks the middle, and each hand is coloured by the side it's on. Every toss is mirrored into both halves, so both players face exactly the same fruit.
Is my camera video uploaded or recorded?
No. The hand tracking (Google's open-source MediaPipe Hand Landmarker) runs entirely on your device, and its code and model are served from this site, not a third party. The video never leaves your browser and is never saved. The camera turns off when you press Camera off or leave the page.
It isn't seeing my hands. What can I do?
Make sure your hands are well lit and fully in the picture — stepping back to an arm's length or two usually helps, and so does a plain background. The line under the game tells you how many hands it can see. Tracking is fastest on a laptop or desktop; older phones may be slower.
Can I play without a camera?
Yes — choose "Play with mouse or touch instead" and use a mouse, trackpad or your finger on a touchscreen.
Is it free, and are my scores saved?
It's free with no sign-up. Solo best scores are kept only in your own browser; there's no account or leaderboard.
