- Is my video uploaded anywhere?
- No. The video is decoded and converted entirely in your browser — it never leaves your device, and you only get a file when you press download. There's no account and no upload.
- Which video formats can I convert?
- MP4 and WebM work reliably in every modern browser. MOV often works too, since it's usually H.264 video in a QuickTime container. AVI is an older format that most browsers can't decode natively, so it will usually show a clear "format not supported" message rather than converting — if that happens, try re-exporting the clip as MP4 first.
- Is there a file size limit?
- Uploads are capped at 300MB. That's mainly to keep seeking through the clip responsive on phones — the conversion itself is driven by how many frames you sample (trim length × frame rate), not the original file size.
- How long can the video be I'm converting?
- The video you upload can be any length within the 300MB cap, since you only convert the part you trim to. The trimmed selection itself is capped at 400 total frames (trim length × frame rate) — at the default 10 FPS that's up to 40 seconds; a lower frame rate allows a longer clip, a higher one a shorter one. If your selection is too long for the frame rate you've picked, the Convert button explains why and lets you shorten the range or lower the FPS.
- How do frame rate and quality affect the GIF?
- A higher frame rate samples more frames from your clip, giving smoother motion at the cost of a larger file. Quality controls the color palette — Low uses fewer colors and one palette for the whole clip (smallest, fastest), High recomputes the palette per frame for the most accurate colors on scenes that change a lot.
- Can I preview my settings before converting the whole clip?
- Yes — click "Generate preview" to render a short sample (the first couple of seconds of your selection) at your current crop, size, frame rate and quality settings. It shows up right on the settings screen, so you can judge the quality and file size, tweak anything, and preview again before committing to the full conversion.
- Can I loop the GIF a specific number of times?
- Yes — choose "Repeat…" in the Loop setting and enter a count, or pick Loop forever (the GIF default) or Play once.
- Why did conversion fail?
- This is usually a very long selection at a high frame rate producing more frames than the tool allows in one go — shorten the trim range or lower the frame rate and try again. Generating a preview first is a fast way to check your settings before running the full conversion. If it keeps failing, a smaller output size usually helps too.
