- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. Every edit and export happens entirely in your browser. The one exception is loading an image from a URL, which fetches directly from your browser to that URL rather than through our servers.
- What image formats are supported?
- Open any format your browser can decode, including JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and SVG (drawn at a sensible size), by choosing a file, dropping it, pasting it with Ctrl+V or loading a URL. HEIC photos need converting to JPG first, which the Image Converter does in your browser. Export as PNG, JPEG, WebP, or AVIF where your browser can encode it.
- What's the max upload size?
- Up to 25MB per file, whether opened from your device or a URL. Once decoded, the editor works on pictures up to 16,384 pixels on a side and 100 megapixels; anything bigger is scaled down and you are told the new size. Some phones and older browsers allow less.
- Can I undo an edit?
- Yes. Undo and Redo (Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Shift+Z or the arrow buttons) step through your edits. The history is kept in memory, so on a very large picture it holds fewer steps. Reset returns to the original and can itself be undone. Resize, crop, adjustments and straightening only commit when you press Apply (or leave that tab).
- Does changing quality or format degrade my image?
- No. Quality, format and the file-size target are export-time settings that only affect the downloaded file — never the image you're editing — so you can switch between them freely. To hit a size such as "under 200 KB", turn on Limit the file size in the Export tab: the editor tries qualities until it finds the highest one that fits.
- Why does converting to JPEG remove transparency?
- JPEG doesn't support transparency. When you export a transparent image as JPEG, it's flattened onto the background color you choose in the Export panel.
- What can I do besides resize and crop?
- Rotate and flip, straighten a crooked photo by up to 45° (the empty corners are cropped away), adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, exposure, grayscale, sepia and blur, set a social-media size such as an Instagram post or YouTube thumbnail (fit, fill or pad), and draw with a pen, boxes, arrows, text, and a pixelate or blur brush for hiding details. For anything truly sensitive, use Pixelate or a filled box rather than a light blur.
- Can I send the picture to another tool?
- Yes. From the Export tab, Remove background, Extract text and Simulate color blindness open the other tool with your current edit. The picture is handed over inside your browser (kept briefly in its local storage) and is never uploaded.
- Is the image editor really free?
- Yes, completely — no account, no credit card, no trial that expires, and no pro tier holding features back. Your export comes out clean at full quality — no watermark stamped across it, and no resolution downgrade at the download step.
- Do I need an account to use it?
- No — nothing to register for, nothing to download, and no email address asked for at any point. Drop in an image and start editing straight away.
