How does the QR & barcode reader work?
Point your camera at a QR code or barcode and it's decoded on your device — or upload, paste (Ctrl+V / ⌘V) or drag in a photo or screenshot. Every code in the picture is listed, each in a friendly form: a link with its website name checked, Wi-Fi details with the password ready to copy, a contact to save as .vcf, an event to add to your calendar, an email or SMS ready to send. Nothing is uploaded.
What can it read?
QR codes and the common barcodes — EAN-13/8, UPC-A/E, Code 128, Code 39/93, ITF and Codabar, plus Data Matrix, Aztec and PDF417, including light-on-dark codes. It understands the usual contents: website links, Wi-Fi joins, contact cards (vCard/MECARD), calendar events, email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp, map locations and crypto payment requests. A product barcode can be looked up in the Food or Cosmetic Scanner.
Is anything uploaded or tracked?
No. Decoding happens entirely in your browser — the camera frames and any image you pick never leave your device, there's no server, and there's no account.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes. Where the browser has a built-in barcode detector (Chrome on Android and on Mac, for example) it uses that; elsewhere — iPhone Safari, Firefox, and Chrome on Windows and Linux — it uses an on-device decoder that's loaded only when needed. Either way nothing leaves your device. The camera needs the page served over HTTPS, which this site is.
Is it safe to open a scanned link?
Treat scanned links with care — a QR code can point anywhere, and malicious “quishing” codes exist. This reader never opens anything automatically: it shows the website's name on its own line and the full address, and warns about lookalike names, international characters that imitate familiar ones, bare IP addresses, link shorteners and unencrypted (http) links. Those checks are hints, not a guarantee — only open links you trust.
Can I scan many codes in a row?
Yes. Turn on “Keep scanning” while the camera is open and each new code is added to a list, with a count when the same code is scanned again. Copy the list or download it as a CSV — handy for stock-takes and event check-ins. The list stays in this page only.
