Pick a color from an image

Choose, drop or paste an image, move over it to preview the color under the pointer (a zoom loupe shows the exact pixel), then click, or release after dragging on a touch screen, to lock it and read the HEX, RGB and HSL values. With the keyboard, focus the image, move with the arrow keys (Shift for bigger steps) and press Enter. The main colors of the image are listed with their share of the picture.

The image is drawn onto a canvas in your browser and sampled locally — it is never uploaded anywhere, so it's safe for private screenshots and unreleased designs. Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is loaded straight into a canvas element in your browser and every pixel is read locally. Nothing is sent to a server, so private screenshots and designs stay on your device.
What image formats work?
Anything your browser can display — PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, and SVG all work. Large images are shrunk to fit the page, but every pick is read from the original full-size pixel, not the shrunk copy. The main-color list reads the whole image too; for images over about 40 megapixels it reads evenly spaced rows to stay responsive.
How are the main colors found?
Pixels are grouped by color, the groups are split with median cut, and colors that look nearly the same are merged. Each color shows its share of the opaque pixels. Transparent pixels are ignored.
Is anything uploaded to a server?
No. Every conversion runs in your browser with JavaScript — the color values never leave your device, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
