Color palette generator

Start from any color — type a value, use the picker, or hit random — and the generator builds a tints-and-shades ramp plus five classic harmonies from its hue. Click any swatch to copy its HEX.

The ramp keeps the hue and saturation fixed while stepping lightness from light to dark, which is how design-token scales (50 through 900) are built. The harmonies rotate the hue: complementary (opposite), analogous (neighbors), triadic and tetradic (evenly spaced), and split-complementary.

Color Palette Generator — frequently asked questions

How are the harmonies calculated?
Each harmony rotates the base hue by a fixed angle on the color wheel — 180° for complementary, ±30° for analogous, 120° steps for triadic, 90° steps for tetradic — while keeping saturation and lightness, so the set feels cohesive.
What are tints and shades?
Tints are lighter versions of a color and shades are darker ones. The ramp here spans both, giving you a ready-made scale to use as background, border, and text tokens.
Is anything uploaded to a server?
No. Every conversion runs in your browser with JavaScript — the color values never leave your device, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
Is this really free?
Yes — no sign-up, no payment, no watermark. A single unobtrusive ad slot covers hosting.
