Convert YAML to XML

Paste your YAML and this tool converts it to XML instantly, right in your browser. YAML is a human-friendly, indentation-based format popular for configuration like Docker Compose, Kubernetes, and CI pipelines. XML is a verbose, tag-based markup format still common in enterprise systems, SOAP APIs, feeds and document formats.

The conversion is completely client-side: there's no upload, no queue, and no account. Big files are converted in the background with a Cancel button, the options for the lossy steps are one click away, and your last conversion is remembered.

YAML to XML Converter — frequently asked questions

How do I convert YAML to XML?
Paste your YAML, or open or drop a file, and the XML appears instantly. Copy it, download it (named after your file), or open it in another tool. Errors point to the line and column. Everything happens in your browser.
Why does the XML have a <root> element?
XML needs exactly one root element. When your data has several top-level keys or is a list, it's wrapped in a root element (you can name it, and the list items) so the output is always valid XML. Keys that aren't valid XML names are renamed, and the result is checked before you get it.
Does it handle multiple documents, anchors and !!binary?
Yes. A file with several --- documents becomes a list, anchors and merge keys are expanded (a file that would expand to over a million values is refused), and !!binary values are written as Base64 text.
Is my data uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser — your data never leaves your device, so it's safe to convert configuration, API payloads, and other sensitive files. You can even go offline once the page has loaded.
Is this converter really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no payment details, no file-size paywall, and no watermark on the output.
